You’re on the edge of the shiai-jo. Your footwork, strikes, and timing are dialed in. But then—nerves.
Your grip tightens. Your breathing shortens. You freeze or rush. And just like that, everything you trained for slips through your fingers.
Sound familiar?
Even elite kenshi struggle with nerves. The difference? They train their mind as deliberately as they train their technique.
That’s what this course is for.
✅ Techniques to stay calm and composed under pressure
✅ Focus strategies to spot and seize opportunities mid-match
✅ Visualisation tools to mentally prepare for gradings and shiai
✅ Recovery strategies to bounce back from mistakes and setbacks
✅ Mental frameworks to help your students train with purpose and confidence
This isn’t about hype or hollow motivation. It’s a structured, research-backed approach to developing mental skills that transfer directly to the dojo floor.
✅ Practitioners who freeze up under pressure and want to stay sharp in gradings or shiai
✅ Coaches who want to build confident, focused students—not just teach drills
✅ Kenshi who struggle to stay motivated or bounce back from mistakes
✅ Anyone training in a small club, with limited comps, who needs to make every session count
Hi, I’m Blake.
I am a Renshi 6th dan, and have coached for over 27 years—from school clubs in Japan and New Zealand to high-performance squads and 7 World Kendo Championships.
I have a Ph.D. in sport pedagogy, and lecture at a world-leading university in coach development. I’ve taught coaching science, studied pedagogy, and run hundreds of beginner sessions in messy, imperfect, real-life settings!
This course is the result of everything I’ve tested, refined, and proven—so you don’t have to figure it all out the hard way.
